Damn Yankees is presented by the McLean Community Players. Faust meets professional baseball in this Broadway classic. Middle-aged baseball fanatic Joe Boyd trades his soul to the Devil, also known as Mr. Applegate, for a chance to lead his favorite team to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees. As young baseball sensation Joe Hardy, he transforms the hapless Washington Senators into a winning team, only to realize the true worth of the life he's left behind. With iconic Broadway tunes, including “You Gotta Have Heart” and “Whatever Lola wants, Lola Gets”, this fast-paced and devilishly clever piece hits a home run for all-American subject matter with just the right amount of irreverent humor. Damn Yankees opens Friday, July 12, and runs weekends through July 28 at the Alden Theatre in the McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave., McLean.
