The Fairfax Choral Society Symphonic Chorus and Concert Choir present In Paradisum, a concert of sacred masterworks from 20th century France. The centerpiece of this uplifting program will be Maurice Duruflé?s inspiring Requiem presented in its rarely-heard chamber orchestra version prepared by the composer fourteen years after the work?s premier. Our concert of music by mostly Parisian composers also includes a performance of Bob Chilcott?s Canticles of Light and Lili Boulanger?s thrilling setting of Psalm 24 performed by combined choirs, organ, and orchestra. Renowned organist Paul Skevington will be featured soloist in Marcel Dupre?s Cortege et Litanie heard here in its relatively unknown scoring for organ and orchestra.
