Business Valuation and How to Pinpoint Weakness in Your Business
Have you ever thought about selling your business, but you’re not really sure what the value of your business is? Many business owners think that the net profit number on their income statements is a good indicator of what a buyer would be willing to pay. Unfortunately, this is rarely the case. Valuation of a business is not the same as valuing your house.
With a house you know what you’re selling - 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, with a great view, in a popular location. There are probably several similar homes in the local neighborhood that you can look at for comparison and you can always call on the expertise of your local realtor, when considering a potential sale price When selling your business, it’s difficult to gauge exactly what you are selling. You may ask yourself: is my company valuable? Is my business sellable?
Many business owners fail to recognize that in order to maximize the value of the business, they must minimize the risk profile for the buyer.
This seminar will explore the eight factors that contribute to the value of a business and how the buyer calculates return on investment scenarios when evaluating an acquisition. Even if an exit event is years away, insights into how businesses are valued will contribute to strengthening of the fundamentals of the enterprise.
Key take-aways will include insight to:
Whether your business is “easy” or “hard” to sell
How to improve the sellability of your business
Questions you need to as before you sell your business
