    Join us for the inaugural Downtown McLean Matters: An Economic Symposium!  The morning event, to be held at the storied Kazan Restaurant, will examine an array of matters with respect to downtown McLean, and is presented with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (EDA).  

     


    The keynote speaker, Peter Rowan, North America Vice President of Public Affairs for Mars, Inc., will review that longstanding McLean company's decision to expand here, and its progress towards that end.
     
    Featured speaker Supervisor Jimmy Bierman will make welcoming comments, and later address his work and commitment to economic development and revitalization in downtown McLean, before taking questions from the audience.  


    Featured speaker Joe Thomas, CEO of The Freedom Bank of Virginia, will set the stage by offering welcoming comments and offering insights as to the macroeconomic landscape and lending trends he is seeing through his Bank's work locally, and, more broadly, through his role on the board of the Virginia Bankers Association.  

    Featured speaker Stephen Tarditi, Director of Market Intelligence at the Fairfax County EDA, will review regional economic conditions, emerging economic trends, and leasing activity, particularly here in northeastern Fairfax County. 

    Other matters to be addressed in relation to downtown McLean include:
    • the state of office and retail leasing;
    • commercial lending trends;
    • land use and development, including approved projects and adaptive reuses of space; and
    • placemaking and beautification efforts
