    Event Description:
    Join us for the inaugural Downtown McLean Matters: An Economic Symposium!  The morning event, to be held at the storied Kazan Restaurant, will examine an array of matters with respect to downtown McLean, and is presented with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (EDA).  
     
    The keynote speaker, Peter Rowan, U.S. Vice President of Public Affairs for Mars, Inc., will review that longstanding McLean company’s decision to expand here, and its progress towards that end.
     
    Featured speaker Stephen Tarditi, Director of Market Intelligence at the Fairfax County EDA, will review regional economic conditions, emerging economic trends, and leasing activity, particularly here in northeastern Fairfax County. 
     
    Other topics to be addressed in relation to downtown McLean include:
    • the state of office and retail leasing;
    • commercial lending trends;
    • land use and development, including approved projects and adaptive reuses of space such as the new MPA Berlage Center for the arts and Community; and
    • placemaking and beautification efforts
     
    The event will include networking opportunities prior to and following the program, and a hot breakfast.
